Amref Health International Conference

In November 2014, over 350 delegates gathered for the Amref Health Africa International Conference – the first international conference led by an African non-governmental organization – at Nairobi Safari Park Hotel. The delegates included African government leaders, international and African health scientists, key stakeholders in Africa’s health sector and corporate CEOs from all over the continent.

The conference sought to engage the private and governmental sectors and articulate the role of partnerships in improving and ensuring easy access to health care in Africa.

The Gina Din Group supported Amref in raising over US $320,000 through a number of sponsors who came on board to support the initiative. We also attained an Ave Value of 13,753,206 and a PR Value of 41,259,618 through strategic communication for the conference. In terms of coverage, the hash tag #AmrefConference, which created traffic online on Nov. 24, 2014, received a total number 1,702 posts, a potential reach of 739,964 users and an impression of 6.2 million users.

The deliberations of the conference revealed that Africans can drive the continent’s health agenda post-2015 based on experience and evidence gathered by policy makers, health workers, researchers, governments and the private sector.
