CBK at 50 Celebrations

The Gina Din Group was tasked to handle media and logistics of all the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) 50th anniversary celebrations in 2016. This included programme coordination, branding of the venues, photography, videography and media relations for six events: the Kenya Music Festival, the Research Symposium and Dinner, the Epic Event, the Bush Dinner and the CBK Staff Party.

The Gina Din Group worked with CBK to come up with a media plan for traditional and social media for all events. We also conceptualised each event and managed their execution.

The CBK at 50 celebrations proved to be a success. The Research Symposium, The Symposium Dinner and the Epic Event were all attended by 350 guests. Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich attended the Research Symposium, while the President of Kenya H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta attended the Epic Event.

The Bush Dinner at Nairobi National Park was a particularly exciting event as it gave guests an opportunity to enjoy an authentic African experience with Kenyan hospitality. The guests were in the National Park for a two-hour game drive before settling in for dinner. Guests were welcomed through traditional dance and received a Maasai blanket.

There was extensive media coverage before, during and after the CBK at 50 celebrations in both traditional media and online. Articles were found in national newspapers and magazines while stories aired on both television and radio.

Social media posts were planned prior to events and live tweeting was also incorporated during each activity. We broadcasted a livestream during the Research Symposium. Throughout the course of the celebrations, the public offered messages of congratulations to CBK and the hashtag #CBKat50 became a trending topic on Twitter.
